TreeCATs — a.k.a. Collegiate and Citizen Arboriculture Trainings — is UFI’s annual five-week training in urban and community forestry. Topics range from tree identification and soil health to how trees impact human health, social justice, and climate adaptation.

Gain employable skills and hands-on experience, plus take advantage of networking opportunities with experts and practitioners in the field of urban and community forestry.

Attend all five sessions (consecutive Fridays from March 27 through April 24, 2026, 2–5 p.m.) and complete the brief, engaging homework assignments — including a final project of your choosing — and you'll earn a $300 stipend!

Open to UK students and community members, but space is limited.

TreeCATs has given me a much more realistic and exciting vision of my future career.
